When will fasting start?
The holy month of Ramadan in 2023 will start from 23rd or 24th March 2023 depending on moon sighting. However, the Islamic Foundation has fixed the final schedule for Sehri and Iftar on March 24, the start of Ramadan.

In Arabic | نَوَيْتُ اَنْ اُصُوْمَ غَدًا مِّنْ شَهْرِ رَمْضَانَ الْمُبَارَكِ فَرْضَا لَكَ يَا اللهُ فَتَقَبَّل مِنِّى اِنَّكَ اَنْتَ السَّمِيْعُ الْعَلِيْم |
In Bangla | নাওয়াইতু আন আছুম্মা গাদাম মিন্ শাহরি রমাজানাল মুবারাকি ফারদাল্লাকা, ইয়া আল্লাহু ফাতাকাব্বাল মিন্নি ইন্নিকা আনতাস্ সামিউল আলিম। |
Meaning | O Allah! I intend to observe the obligatory fast of the holy month of Ramadan. So accept my fasting and abstaining from food and drink, surely You are All-Hearing and All-Knowing. |

Intention of Iftar
In Arabic | اَللَّهُمَّ لَكَ صُمْتُ وَ عَلَى رِزْقِكَ وَ اَفْطَرْتُ بِرَحْمَتِكَ يَا اَرْحَمَ الرَّاحِيْمِيْن |
In Bangla | ‘বিসমিল্লাহি আল্লাহুম্মা লাকা সুমতু, ওয়া আ’লা রিযক্বিকা আফত্বারতু। |
Meaning | In the name of Allah (beginning); O Allah! I have fasted for You and I am breaking the fast with Your sustenance. [Abu Dawud Mursal, Mishkat]Things to do during Iftar |
Rasulullah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam has specifically urged to break the fast on time in numerous hadiths. He said, ‘As long as people break the fast as soon as it is time to break the fast, they will benefit.’

In Bangla | ‘জাহাবাজ জামাউ; ওয়াবতালাতিল উ’রুকু; ওয়া ছাবাতাল আঝরূ ইনশাআল্লাহ।’ |
Meaning | “(Through Iftar) thirst is quenched, veins are moistened, and if Allah wills, reward is fixed” [Abu Dawud, Mishkat] |
